‘Steve is way more than just a drum teacher. He loves what he does and that echoes to his students as well. I appreciated deeply his ability and desire to see through my needs as a drummer. In all honesty, I felt more like a drummer in the making than just a drum student and that is the key to Steve’s greatness 🙂 He gave me space, trust and time to develop my connection with drums. He also gave me the freedom to experiment as well as being by my side to make sure I learned everything the right way. Everything ran so organically in all of our lessons. Steve is rad drummer, a true teacher and a great human being! Thank you Steve!’

CHARA – DRUMMING STUDENT

‘Steve is a fantastic drum teacher. I started lessons earlier this year, having never played and with absolutely no sense of rhythm. Steve is patient, always enthusiastic, and has excellent communication and motivational skills. He has achieved what I thought was the impossible – he’s taught me how play to a beat (in time!), develop a sense of rhythm and feel confident sat at a drum kit! I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone keen to learn to play the drums.’

Steve has encouraged him to learn and play the music he loves and his relaxed yet professional approach is really bringing out the best in his playing. Thank you.’

SESSION REFERENCES

Steve is great to work with personally and musically. I really enjoyed having him drum for our session!
Andy Baker – Managing Director, Resound Media
“Steve is an incredible drummer full stop. His professionalism in the rehearsal room as well as on stage is a standout skill that constantly brings to our band, and we’re very lucky to have him.”
Jack – Band Member of Cavalcade

“Steve keenly jumped into a fast-paced schedule as a session player, last minute, during the run up to acoustic video shoots, a recording session and a headline performance at the Fiddler’s Elbow, Camden.

In this short time, I immediately noticed his skill and attention to detail; Steve often forwarded videos with rhythmic options for live shows and acoustic shoots, and often offered creative ideas during the rehearsal process.

His down to earth nature and wit uplifted many sessions, and helped to create a positive space for the creation and experience of music. I highly recommend Steve as a great session player.”

Vicky – Session Client

“It was great having Steve Norris as a session drummer for our gig at Hampshire Octoberfest 2017.

Steve stepped in at the last minute and played a great gig after only a couple of rehearsals. Technically he is a very good drummer, playing some really complex and original patterns which complemented the songs well. He also put in some great fills, and finished all the songs correctly! We even threw a couple of new numbers into the set during final rehearsal which Steve more than coped with.

But it’s the rest which makes the difference – he’s reliable. He turned up on time to rehearsals having already learnt the set and, with his charts and notes, most songs were right first time. Steve took direction well and contributed to the arrangements. Plus he integrated into the band very easily and is genuinely a really nice guy!

I look forward to playing with Steve again and would highly recommend him as a drummer.”

Pete – Session Client

“I have played along with Steve on many occasions and have always found him professional in his approach, diligent in applying himself to new techniques and at ease in a wide range of musical genres. His commitment to high quality production means he should be high on the list for anyone looking for a drummer.”
